How long have you been a professional photographer?
- Over 10 years (The line is blurry as I slowed my photography practice at times for family / life.)
-Fujica STX-1 fully manual film camera with 50mm lens.
What Camera do you use now?
- Nikon! I love all Nikon Pro Series. I find you can't beat the quality of Nikon lenses or high ISO capabilities.
-B.F.A. in Media & Performing Arts at
Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)
- There are many... I loved working in ministry for the art department of a mega-church in Savannah. Also, although it wasn't my favorite job managing a corporate portrait studio for 3 years, I learned a ton and gained immeasurable experiences and skills.
However, I especially enjoy working for myself. The interactions and relationships I build with clients are so much stronger. I find that the more I work with someone the deeper and more authentic the images become from their sessions. Getting to know your personality and artistic preferences allows me to tailor your photos to you. Not to mention, repeat clientele is one of the highest compliments.
What do you love about photography?
-I love being challenged creatively regardless of the unique details of each and every job. I love that I will forever be learning. I love overcoming the technical challenges. I love showing people how amazing they are through photography.
-Snuggles with my kids, hugs from my hubby and my imaginary kitchen that cooks and cleans for itself. (Seriously the plates dance and sing while they do it! Yes- just like on Beauty and the Beast.)
Describe your artistic style...
-Home. Sincerity. Joy. Depth. Passion.
I use natural light as much as possible, but enjoy the creativity and control studio and strobe lights bring. I try not to re-touch too much when editing. My goal is to show the best version of YOU (and not the blemish you happened to wake up with that morning, or the bruise your child got the day before photos. Why does it always happen the day before photos?!? Lol.)
I love capturing authentic moments and interactions. Even if the scene is completely posed I will still attempt (yes, sometimes unsuccessfully!) to make you laugh or talk about something that makes you feel strong or inspired.
